VIENNA CLARINET CONNECTION

Two clarinets, bassett horn and bass clarinett – this unique lineup, based on the string quartet, enables the vienna clarinet connection to create a colorful sound range as well as an exciting tension between the soloist’s individuality and chamber musical ensemble playing.

Thus Helmut Hödl, Rupert Fankhauser, Hubert Salmhofer and Wolfgang Kornberger have achieved an inspiring symbiosis of composed and improvised music with elements of traditional and contemporary classical music, jazz and pop. The ensemble, founded in 1995, has remained faithful to  this concept of flowing transitions  between styles until today. With their own compositions and arrangements which make up the main part of their repertoire vienna clarinet connection have found their own, unique musical language.

So the four musicians have set new standards , have become trailblazers for the genre of the clarinet quartet and have made an important contribution to this lineup in international concert life. Their creative and varied programmes along with an entertaining and humorous presentation on stage make sure that the audiences will experience an extraordinary concert event.

Projects with actors Karl Markovics, Martina Gedeck and Robert Meyer, singers Sandra Pires, Peter Gabis, Matthias Schorn (solo clarinettist of the Vienna Philharmonic) as well as the Vienna State Ballet and the Volksoper Wien Bigband are proof of the quartet’s variety.
