Wolfgang Kornberger holds a teching position at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. He received his first musical tuition with Prof. Josef Pöttler in Pöllau, then studied the clarinet at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts (orchestra and teaching diplomas). His teachers, Profs. Peter Schmidl, Ernst Ottensamer and Johann Hindler have all been members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Wolfgang Kornberger played in various orchestras with conducters such as Pierre Boulez, Franz Welser Möst, Leoplod Hager, Adam Fischer, Heinz Holliger, Dennis Russell Davies and singer/conductor Placido Domingo  (Vienna Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Volksoper, Orchestra of the Mozarteum Salzburg, Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler and Klangforum Wien).
From 1994 - 1997 Kornberger was a member of „Trio Clarin“, a basset horn trio. He recorded five CDs with them and performed at the Salzburg Mozart Week and the Schwetzinger and Rheingau music festivals.
Since 1999 special interest in the bass clarinet, thereby expanding the possibilities of the instrument.
Arranger and composer of numerous works for vienna clarinet connection and other ensembles.
