Ruper Fankhauser is a professor of the clarinet at Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. He also studied there and received a scholarship of the Herbert-von- Karajan Foundation in Berlin. He was solo clarinettist in the Gustav-Mahler- Youth Orchestra,  from 1985-2000 in the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra and in 1993/1994 in the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra in South Africa.
Concerts and tours with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic under conductors such as Karajan, Bernstein, Abbado, Muti, Barenboim, Levine, Previn, Pretre, Leinsdorf, Jansons, Rattle and many others.
International concert activity as a chamber music player and soloist with Modern Times-1800, I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Carinzhian Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Carinthia, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and others.
Trainings and workshops for Yoga, Alexander-Technique, breathing and motion techniques, practitioner of the Grinberg Method-Stage I and Spiral Dynamics. International workshops („Body as Instrument“) and coaching (wind-coach with the Baltic Youth Philharmonic under Kristjan Järvi in 2008/2009).
Since 2012 many appearances with the Soloists of Concentus and Concentus Musicus Wien and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, at Theater an der Wien, Styriarte Graz, Wiener Musikverein and Salzburg Festival on period instruments.
